Nishane treats perfume as a form of storytelling. Its Istanbul perspective meets an international circle of perfumers and a preference for concentrated Extrait de Parfums.
Fragrances such as Hacivat and Ani show that range, moving from Turkish shadow play and citrus chypre to a warm, spicy interpretation of cultural borderlessness.
01 · The beginnings

Two Creative Directors, one Istanbul perspective

Mert Güzel and Murat Katran met in 2010 and formally founded Nishane in 2012. They describe themselves not as perfumers but as Creative Directors: they develop the theme, narrative and aesthetic framework, then choose the right perfumer. Istanbul is more than an address in this process. Its coexistence of tradition and modernity provides the house with a cultural point of departure.
02 · Fragrance as narrative

From story to formula

At Nishane, a story comes first. The perfumer, notes and formula follow. Hacivat belongs to the Shadow Play Collection and draws on a character from traditional Turkish shadow theatre. In the No Boundaries Collection, Ani connects the memory of the historic city of Ani with the idea of overcoming emotional boundaries. Cultural motifs therefore become part of a fragrance's structure rather than an ornamental addition.

03 · Collaboration

International perfumery, clearly curated

Nishane works with different perfumers on a project-by-project basis. In Parfinity's current catalog, Jorge Lee is credited with several defining creations, including Hacivat and Wulong Cha. Cécile Zarokian composed Ani, which she describes as an important pillar of the house's international development. These changing signatures serve a consistent creative direction rather than imitating a single house style.
