Red roses for Christmas
Despite its name, Noël au Balcon by Etat Libre D'Orange evokes hardly any classic Christmas associations. Instead, the composition begins with a warm, fruity citrus note that gains a pleasant, slightly sharp spiciness from the presence of pepper. As it develops, this opening gives way to a dominant, floral-powdery rose. The floral heart is accompanied by a subtle, very bright honey sweetness that provides a soft contrast in the background. In the base note, tangible cedarwood gives the still strong rose a stable backbone, while vanilla flashes through only subtly at most. Overall, the initially spicy character soon fades into a very feminine, rose-dominated progression. As an elegant and present fragrance, it is ideally suited as an evening companion for going out.
